This year, New South Wales will be enforcing a double demerits period over the Easter Long Weekend. In this period, penalties for traffic charges will be more severe. This will run from Thursday the 6th of April until Monday the 10th of April, inclusive. Fines will also be given out for these offences, and NSW Police will have extra officers patrolling the roads during the holiday period. In addition to dedicated Highway Patrol Officers, regular Police can also hand out traffic fines for many infringements. You can lose demerit points from infringements caught by officers, permanent cameras and temporary traffic cameras.
