What Happens in Court?

When you are charged with a strictly Indictable matter, or a matter where the DPP elect to have your charge dealt with in the District Court, the case is managed through a process commencing in the Local Court.

On the first mention date the charge will usually be adjourned for 8 weeks for the brief to be served. A further series of short mentions occur prior to the matter, perhaps, being committed to the District Court for trial or sentence. Yes, it is a little complex, however we have the knowledge to assist you with that and prepare your matter for trial and sentence.

It’s a stressful process, we know from our clients how overwhelming the situation is. We keep that in mind and we pursue the best outcome for you.

Our clients have acknowledged our commitment to using our time wisely and making strategic decisions to obtain best outcomes and keep an eye on keeping costs at a manageable level.
